By optimizing your website, you can obtain results which can place your website on the first page of the search results. For example, someone opens their browser and searched for flowers. The sites that you see on the very first page are combined of “organic” search results and Sponsored Link ads. The organic listings have worked their way up the search pages and made their mark onto the firs second or third pages.

Why would a search marketer — or a site about search engines — care about social media? The two are very closely related.

Many people also perform searches at social media sites to find social media content. Social connections may also impact the relevancy of some search results, either within a social media network or at a ‘mainstream’ search engine.
